Tata Motors, the Indian automotive manufacturer, is set to embark on a record-breaking journey with its electric SUV, the Nexon EV. The company aims to achieve the fastest K2K drive by an electric vehicle in India. The Nexon EV will travel from Srinagar to Kanyakumari, covering a distance of 4000 km in just four days, starting from February 25th.
The Nexon EV comes equipped with an enhanced range of 453 km, and Tata Motors believes that the journey will showcase the prowess of the vehicle in managing high-speed and long-distance travel. It also aims to highlight the availability of public charging networks across the country, making EV adoption more accessible and convenient.
Tata Motors is confident that the K2K drive will boost the adoption of electric vehicles in India, which has been hindered by concerns about range anxiety and the lack of adequate charging infrastructure. To address these concerns, Tata Power has enhanced highway charging infrastructure across the country, making public charging omnipresent and easily accessible.
Commenting on the K2K drive, Vivek Srivatsa, Head of Marketing, Sales and Service Strategy, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said, “Being a new evolving technology, it is important to demonstrate the capabilities and possibilities of EVs in the real world and real-time conditions. By setting out on this ambitious journey with the Nexon EV, we want to inspire existing and prospective EV owners by offering them conclusive proof of the benefits of the Nexon EV’s long-range, accompanied by the growing charging stations, installed by our ecosystem partners at Tata Power.”
He added, “We are excited to kick-start this enthralling journey with the Nexon EV, offering an enhanced range of 453km, in which a team of auto enthusiasts, EV believers, along with my colleagues and I will be navigating through 4000km from North to the South of India, in the least possible time.”
Tata Motors believes that this journey will demonstrate the capabilities of the Nexon EV and inspire EV adoption across the country. The company has been at the forefront of electric vehicle innovation in India, with plans to launch several new electric vehicles in the coming years.
The K2K drive is a significant milestone for Tata Motors and the Indian electric vehicle industry. It highlights the potential of EVs in managing long-distance travel and underscores the importance of a robust charging infrastructure to support widespread EV adoption.
As the demand for electric vehicles grows, companies like Tata Motors are leading the way in developing new technologies and infrastructure to make EVs more accessible and convenient for consumers. The K2K drive by the Nexon EV is just the beginning of a new era in India’s transportation industry.
