Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced an exclusive electric vehicle-based shuttle service for girls in major cities of the state. The Punjab Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann, has announced the launch of an exclusive electric vehicle-based shuttle service for girls in major cities of the state. The announcement was made during a programme that Mann kicked off to directly interface with young girls. The programme aims to utilise the young population’s energy, which constitutes a sizeable portion of the country, towards the social and economic progress of the state.
The launch of the exclusive shuttle service for girls is imminent in major cities of the state, including Patiala, Ludhiana, Amritsar, and others. The initiative aims at ensuring the best public transport for girls in these cities. Mann emphasized that girls are an asset to society and can prove to be efficient lawmakers too. He encouraged them to come forward and play a decisive role in the field of active politics.
Mann noted that his party had registered massive victories in the 2022 assembly polls, with 11 women MLAs winning seats. Of these 11 MLAs, Mann had elevated two lawmakers as ministers in his Cabinet. In addition, the government has appointed five women SSPs and seven women DCs in different districts, marking history of the state. The government has also established six exclusive women police stations in the state, and plans to establish such police stations in all districts soon.
Mann urged students to focus on holistic development rather than just attaining marks or high percentages. He encouraged students to be thankful to their parents and teachers for grooming them for further competitions. Mann’s initiative to launch an electric vehicle-based shuttle service for girls is a step towards ensuring their safety and comfort while commuting, also promoting eco-friendly transportation.
