Uber Green Electric Vehicle Service Set to Launch in India in June: Here’s What You Should Know

Uber is making significant progress towards its goal of becoming a zero-emissions transportation platform by launching the Uber Green electric vehicle service in India. Set to debut in June, this service allows riders to book all-electric, zero-emission vehicles for their travel needs, contributing to the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in the country.

Although Uber Green is already available in over 100 cities across 15 countries, its introduction in India holds particular significance in promoting sustainability and reducing carbon emissions. Initially launching in major cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai, Uber aims to drive a sustainable push and create a greener future.

To ensure the success of Uber Green in India, Uber has formed partnerships with prominent fleet service providers, including Lithium Urban Technologies, Everest Fleet Private Limited, and Moove. Through these collaborations, Uber plans to deploy 25,000 electrified vehicles across seven locations. By offering the option to choose all-electric, zero-tailpipe pollution vehicles, Uber aims to encourage riders to embrace EVs and contribute to a cleaner environment.

Uber’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond the launch of Uber Green. The company actively fosters partnerships and initiatives to promote EV adoption in India, such as collaborating with fleet operators, expanding financing options, and facilitating the rental of electric vehicles. By teaming up with Zypp Electric, Uber plans to introduce 10,000 electric motorcycles in Delhi by 2024, aligning with its goal of providing efficient and eco-friendly transportation solutions. Additionally, Uber and the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) offer loans of up to Rs 1,000 crores to encourage the usage of electric and compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles.

Uber’s expansion of its electric vehicle presence in India will have a significant impact on the country’s transportation landscape. By offering riders the choice of electric vehicles, collaborating with fleet partners, and providing financing solutions, Uber is paving the way for sustainable transportation alternatives. The launch of Uber Green in India signifies a crucial step towards a greener future, where eco-friendly transportation becomes the norm.

Uber’s introduction of Uber Green and its commitment to electric mobility demonstrate the company’s dedication to reducing carbon emissions and leading the transition to sustainable transportation. As the service rolls out in Delhi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai this June, riders can expect a greener, cleaner, and more eco-conscious ride-hailing experience.
