The top car manufacturer in the nation, Maruti Suzuki India, has announced that it will introduce its first electric vehicle in 2025. This action is a part of the company’s efforts to support the Indian government’s 2030 target of 30% adoption of electric vehicles (EVs).
The upcoming electric vehicle will be produced at the company’s factory in Gujarat, and it will be customized to meet the requirements of the Indian market, according to a statement issued by the company. The vehicle will be reasonably priced and have cutting-edge technologies for a comfortable and effective ride.
Maruti Suzuki’s Managing Director and CEO, Kenichi Ayukawa, said, “We are committed to supporting the government’s vision of promoting electric mobility in the country. Our first electric car will be designed and developed keeping in mind the needs and preferences of our customers in India.”
This action by Maruti Suzuki India is anticipated to promote the country’s EV business and inspire other manufacturers to take a similar approach. Tata Motors to supply 5000 Xpres-T EVs to Everest Fleet
Tata Motors and Everest Fleet Pvt. Ltd. have joined together to offer the company 5000 Xpres-T electric cars (EVs). As part of the agreement, the company gave the Mumbai-based startup 100 units of the EV already on the market. The Xpres-T EV is the brand’s first car. The manufacturer originally introduced the Xpres brand only for fleet clients in July 2021.
According to Ramesh Dorairagan, the firm’s Senior General Manager for Passenger Vehicles, Network Management, and EV Sales, the company feels that these agreements are helping to increase EV adoption in India. Two range options are available for the new Xpres-T electric sedan: 212 kilometers and 165 kilometers (ARAI approved range under test conditions). Tata Motors have already provided Xpres-T EV to fleet companies such as Blu Smart Mobility and Urban Lithium.
