Kolkata, the former capital of British India, is today a commercial and industrial hub of eastern India, located on the banks of the Hooghly River, which is also a tributary of the Ganges. However, The city of modern and heritage culture is among four megacities in the country. Tourists tend to visit areas south of the Howrah Bridge and around BBD Bagh and Chowringhee.
During early freedom, Kolkata significantly reminisced as the Jewel of the East and was the capital of the country till 1911. It is the perfect blend of 19 century Europe and the throbbing vitality of a metropolis. Furthermore, being an old city, you can expect to see people from all parts of India.
Moreover, the capital of West Bengal is also known as the “City of Joy”. Indeed this city has a fine mixture of art, culture, history and literature. Therefore, Tourists can hardly forget to relish the taste of Ragulla a very famous sweet of Kolkata.
The important destination to visit is Victoria Memorial, Dakshineswar Kali Temple, Parasnath Jain Temple, Indian Museums etc. Specifically, the yellow taxi adds beauty to the trip to Kolkata, but with more traffic and commotion, the air quality of the city is diminishing. Moreover, the government is educating and encouraging netizens to adopt EVs and go green to reduce carbon emissions. The city is connected by road to many major cities in India.
To cope with rising fuel costs, the Kolkata Police adopted 226 EVs in its fleet
To cope up with increasing petrol/ diesel prices, the Kolkata police department therefore introduced 226 electric vehicles in their fleet. Evidently, as per reports, these electric vehicles will be leased for eight years and will help obliterate 200 diesel vehicles with a lifespan of 15 years. Moreover, the new electric vehicles are designed for transportation, wireless communication and other units with at least 78 traffic police officer vehicles. As per reports, Nabanna has already proposed about the same to work on this as soon as possible. Moreover, It takes approximately 8 hours to fully charge an electric vehicle so fast chargers will be set up at nine police stations across the city. Thereupon, The police department will check the operational challenges for the first batch of EVs. The Kolkata police fleet has currently 4000 vehicles, but for legal and special work, they hire vehicles from outside. Whereas, TOI reports that additional CPs have been hired to coordinate with various agencies that can deliver EVs quickly.
