The EQS 580, the first locally built electric vehicle offered by Mercedes-Benz India, has a starting Price of Rs. 1.55 crore (ex-showroom). Within the first two weeks of operation, this luxurious electric saloon had more than 300 reservations. Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 deliveries will commence early the next year. Additionally, the company promises to give priority deliveries to current Mercedes-Benz customers.
On September 19, pre-bookings for the luxurious Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 EV were available for a significant sum of Rs 25 lakh. The company describes the product as a huge success after receiving over 300 confirmed bookings so far. The EQS 580 is Mercedes-first Benz’s electric vehicle that is “Made in India.” At the company’s top-notch manufacturing facility in Chakan, Maharashtra, close to Pune, the model is locally assembled.

A 107.8kWh lithium-ion battery pack is paired with two electric motors, one for each axle, in the Mercedes-Benz EQS 580. With a 4Matic all-wheel-drive system, this engine produces a maximum torque of 855 Nm and 516 horsepower. This luxurious electric car will also have the longest range of any EV in India, according to ARAI, with a range of up to 857 kilometers per charge.
But even though the EQS is the electric version of the S Class in terms of product positioning, it costs a little less and provides a quiet, luxurious driving. It includes a massive 56-inch MBUX hyperscreen, adaptive ambient lighting, and massage features. Highlights include a panoramic sunroof, a 15-speaker Burmester sound system, and numerous safety features.
It’s important to note that Mercedes-Benz India also disclosed its sales figures today for the first nine months of the year 2022. This German automaker’s Indian subsidiary sold 11,469 new vehicles between January and September of 2022, surpassing its sales for the whole year 2021.

Mercedes-Benz India reports that it has a current order book of more than 7,000 units and that this demand is being supported by a good market outlook, a stable economy, and robust enterprises in the industry. The most popular luxury vehicle and best-selling model for Mercedes-Benz in India is the LWB (Long Wheel Base) E-Class. The company started releasing the EQS 580 4MATIC last month and will release the EQB premium EV in the fourth quarter of 2022. A record Q3 was achieved by the GLE and GLS premium SUVs, which were responsible for 30% of Q3 volumes.

According to Mercedes-Benz India’s Managing Director and CEO, Martin Schwenk,“Our sales performance is a combination of our attractive product portfolio, bullish customer sentiments and the ongoing festive season. The ‘Made in India EQS’ is receiving an overwhelming response from customers, and we already have 300+ confirmed bookings for the luxury EV. We also have a robust order bank across all models and our focus remains to deliver these cars to our customers, on time. We are confident of maintaining the sales momentum in the coming months with newer products and service offerings in the pipeline.”
