Hyundai Kona EV

Hyundai Kona is a great addition to the country’s eco-friendly transportation options as it is the first fully electric SUV in India. It comes in two variants Premium and Premium Dual Tone. The five color options available are Titan Grey With Phantom Black Roof, Phantom Black, Polar White with Phantom Black, Fiery Red With Phantom Black and Polar White. The expected price begins from Rs. 23.84 Lakhs.

Feature and Specifications

Along with a 3-year/unlimited-mile guarantee, the electric SUV also comes with 3-years of roadside support. The battery is covered by an 8-year/1.60 lakh mile warranty. Hyundai also provides  vehicle-to-vehicle charging support and 24/7 emergency roadside assistance. It has a five seater capacity with 332 liters boot space.

Safety controls include 6 airbags, hill assist, high speed alert, anti-lock braking system etc. With a shift-by-wire automatic transmission, a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor can provide 136 PS and 395 Nm of peak torque. Using liquid cooling techniques, a 39.2 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery powers the motor. The SUV has four different driving modes: Eco, Eco+, Comfort, and Sport.  For tunable regenerative braking, the Hyundai has fitted paddle shifters.

The interior of the electric SUV features a soft-touch dashboard, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and leather seats. A multi-purpose steering wheel with Bluetooth and music controls is available. The floating 17.77 cm touchscreen infotainment system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the instrument panel is entirely digital. Front heated and ventilated seats, an automated parking brake, and completely automatic climate control are some of its extra features.

Through the 50 kW DC Quick Charger CCS Type 2, the electric SUV can be charged to 80% in 57 minutes. A 7.2 kW AC Wall Box Charger and a 2.8 kW Portable Charger are the two chargers that Hyundai will include with the Kona. The 2.8 kW Portable Charger will require 19 hours to fully charge the battery, whereas the 7.2 kW AC Wall Box Charger would take approximately 6 hours and 10 minutes.

Estimated charging times change based on the surrounding temperature, the battery’s state (empty or half full), and the rate of charging. The rate of charging could be restricted by the car.

Range

The range of Hyundai Kona electric is one of the significant features offered by it. It provides a ARAI certified range of 452 km.
