Hyundai has revealed that it is getting ready to introduce another electric vehicle in India. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 will be the first electric vehicle (EV) to be built on E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform), the company’s own platform for battery-powered vehicles . Future versions of the modular platform will be able to accommodate various body types and battery configurations. For now, India will shortly see the introduction of the first Ioniq model from Hyundai.
Hyundai is launching the E-GMP platform in India with the Ioniq 5, an all-electric hatchback. Although the debut date has not yet been disclosed, we may anticipate Hyundai to display the vehicle at the next 2023 Auto Expo, which will be place from 13–18 January 2023.
The Hyundai Kona Electric, the country’s first electric SUV, marked the commencement of Hyundai’s Electric Mobility campaign in India in 2019. Hyundai will be able to provide consumers with cutting-edge battery electric cars developed from a platform that is modular, scalable, and adaptable due to the introduction of E-GMP to India. With a contemporary appearance and style that features 20-inch sharply designed alloy wheels, pixelated LED tail lights, a shar-fin antenna, and an integrated spoiler, the loniq 5 will be unlike any Hyundai vehicle currently on sale in India. It also has LED headlights with square DRLS.
A high-speed electric motor is added to the Hyundai Ioniq 5, allowing it to reach a peak speed of 185 km/h. The E-GMP platform supports ultrafast charging, which can complete a charge of up to 80% in 18 minutes (with a 350 kW DC charger). The Ioniq 5 is offered with two battery choices in other countries: 58 kWh and 72.6 kWh battery packs in RWD and AWD. The larger 72.6 kWh battery option has a driving range of 481 km, while the lesser 58 kWh battery has a driving range of 385 km. The smaller battery pack option will probably be offered by Hyundai in India.
The Ioniq 5 is available in both all-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive versions on the international market. The all-wheel-drive variant features a dual-motor setup with motors positioned on both the front and rear axles. The system has a maximum output of 306 horsepower and 605 Nm of torque. The rear-wheel-drive type, which has a single motor on the back axle, is the alternative. The motor can produce a maximum of 169 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. The rear-wheel-drive type will likely be available in India since it will be less costly. In the future, Hyundai could also release an all-wheel-drive vehicle.
